Fender Twin Reverb

This amp has been used on stages the world over by session guitarists and stars alike. For many, it's the benchmark for clean and the pinnacle of Leo Fender's quest for the clean sound. The "blackface" pre-amp circuit has now been modelled many times over in all kinds of software. The lush tube driven spring reverb, tube tremolo shimmer, and just the crisp nature of the '65 Twin still stands for many as the ultimate tone machine. Whether you play rock, jazz, country, or whatever, this is what a clean electric guitar sounds like!

This iconic 85-watt, all-tube combo amp serves up definitive clean tone that's perfect for rock, country, blues, jazz, fusion, and more. And it takes pedals splendidly. The Fender Twin is devastatingly loud. Spanking clean to around "8" on its volume dial, it can go toe-to-toe with any drummer onstage, but it speaks with authority at any volume — beautifully chimey, glassy, and full-throated. This combo amplifier delivers the legendary sound you've heard on countless hit records.

The Roland JC-120

First introduced way back in 1975, the JC-120 Jazz Chorus is one of the few guitar amps that can truly be called a legend. Roland's long-standing flagship is universally recognised by pros as the benchmark in clean guitar sound, and its rich tone and famous built-in stereo chorus effect have been heard on countless popular songs over its long history. Now celebrating 40 years of continuous production and counting, the JC-120 remains the undisputed "king of clean”, and the enduring choice of serious guitarists everywhere. The Jazz Chorus series became increasingly popular in the late 1970s and early 1980s New Wave and Post-Punk scenes because of its clean yet powerful sound, durability and relatively low cost.  Its earliest users included Albert King, Andy Summers (The Police), Robert Smith (The Cure) Joe Strummer, Art Saiz, Chuck Willis and Prince

Another notable user of the JC-120 was Johnny Mar of The Smiths who used the Roland JC-120 along with his Rickenbacker 330 and Telecaster to create amazing arrays of sound on The Smiths debut album. It also found favour amongst funk players in America and then adopted by Hard Rock guitarists looking for clean tones in Heavy Metal, with the most famous users being James Hetfield and Kirk Hammett of Metallica and Wes Borland from Limp Bizkit.

The Roland JC-120 has arguably been the most beloved solid-state amp for clean sounds for over 45 years. It has been produced and sold uninterruptedly for almost half a century and remains one of the main choices when it comes to clean guitar tones. The Roland JC-120 amp is a solid state piece of work that's been around since 1975. It will let you hear things in your guitar - and your effects - you never knew were there.
